Support Darnell and John Waite

We are family friends from Whitewood, SK where Darnell (nee Armstrong) grew up. We've set up this fundraiser to assist the Waite family as they navigate some unthinkable challenges ahead. Darnell and John reside in Squamish, BC with their two teenage children. This spring, Darnell was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma. She has been having treatments every two weeks at the cancer clinic in Vancouver since this diagnosis. She was able to be at home and drive in for the 4 hour treatments when scheduled. On August 12, John was driving Darnell home from one of these treatments when he lost his peripheral vision and was unable to continue the drive. From the optometrist's office he went to surgery and within 48 hours had a golfball sized tumor removed from behind his ear. The family was shocked to learn that he has now been diagnosed with Stage 4 Glioblasoma, an aggressive brain cancer. So now, as Darnell is nearing the end of her treatments, John will be starting his. His treatments, however will be every day so he will not be able to make the drive in and out of Vancouver from their home. They are on a waiting list for Ronald McDonald house but for now are looking to rent an Air B&B close to the clinic for the month. This will also allow their children a place to spend time with their parents as they navigate these devastating cancer diagnoses. The hope of this fundraiser is that it will allow us to show our love and support while helping to cover costs of this next month. Thank you for any help you can provide.
