Darlene has been fighting one hell of a battle against Breast Cancer and excited to say she is #Winning slowly but surely! Not only has she stayed strong, stayed positive but has kept that beautiful smile on her face throughout this journey (as best as she could despite the pain).
For those of you who have been involved, you can attest how much of a fight Darlene has put up. #FightLikeAGirl
As of today(12/8):
Darlene is excited that the doctors were able to remove all the cancerous lymphnodes during her second surgery on November 16th..... but now comes chemo. She will be starting chemo next week (12/16) for the next 6 months. While the stages vary from intense chemo to eventually phasing out of it, it will still be one tough chapter.
Our beloved independent spunky young lady we all know so well will be needing all the support possible.
As you can imagine financials will get tougher with how expensive medication/treatments can be, keeping up with daily needs, transportation expenses to chemo weekly, meals and ensuring life continues as normal as possible especially with an outgoing 10 year old in the picture. With that said we know our community of friends and family will come together to support anyway possible as we know she has done or would do for us without question.
Any donations will directly be linked to Darlene's bank account for any needed expenses.
Anything helps- even $20 towards her $150 bimonthly Lymphatic massages that alleviate her daily pain but are not covered by insurance goes a long way.
Overview of Darlene's Journey against Breast Cancer:
Darlene underwent a life changing surgery on Thursday, October 27th after discovering a lump on her breast at the end of September and confirming it was Breast Cancer on Tuesday, October 4th. She received an overwhelming amount of support in preparation for this journey and immediately following her double mastectomy. She was out within two days and staying strong while awaiting the news about whether all the cancer had been removed- unfortunately that's not the news she received.
Darlene within 3 weeks of her first surgery and not fully recovered she was now having to get ready for a second surgery. Second surgery happened on November 16. A painful one. Tougher recovery. She finally got more rest, not by choice so much but more due to the pain she was trying to fight off.
Family and friends really came through to continue supporting and providing meals, time and sending prayers.
Darlene and Amoriah have truly been blessed with all the heartwarming messages, flowers and food sent her way.
She has so many loved ones who expressed interest in helping that we thought we would make sure there was a way for that to happen no matter how far the distance between you and our little ol' Hollister.
