Darlene's Stroke Rehab Fund

Hey there everyone.

My beautiful and loving mother suffered an ischemic stroke a week and a half ago, the weekend before this past Mother's Day.  I was on the phone with her when she started mumbling and not making sense and I, being a health advisor knew immediately it was a stroke symptom and called 911. She was rushed to hospital and was there for several days before being transfered to an actue rehabilitation hospital near Phoenix, AZ.  I've been at the hospital daily with her for many hours a day  staying vigilant, otherwise she'd be mostly alone in this process in terms of family and friends being able to see her regularly.

She's been undergoing intense therapies including occupational, physical and speech therapies.  As of right now we're not sure how long she'll be in the rehab facility but likely several weeks and then she'll begin outpatient therapy when she returns home for several months, perhaps longer. She's making great progress so far which is encouraging.

I'm starting this crowd funding page because she is on Medicare and it covers only so much and she'll need a lot more therapy than the insurance will cover to regain her independence and normalcy again. She'll be needing speech and physical therapy in-home as well as home health aides to assist with house hold tasks and grocery shopping and such. We will also have to install appliances to assist her in the bathroom etc.  I will be here as well helping with cooking and meal planning and programming as well as fitness training to get her muscles back to speed. It will be tricky as I do live in Los Angeles so I'll be needing to commute back and forth regularly to Phoenix.

This is a life long process and I'm confidant by her strides thus far she'll make a complete recovery. Your help will also make that happen for her.   Whatever you can help contribute to her recovery fund will be used for her many aspects of recovery and will be GREATLY appreciated by Darlene and her whole family.

If you know my mom you know what a sweet, dear and sincere person she is. Her youthful attitude has always been her pride and joy and although this is a major setback I feel her next chaper in life will only be better.

Thanks again for reading and for your contributions. ALSO, Please share this with friends/family/and others who may also be able to help contribute and/or assist in any way.  Thanks!

Justin.
