Darleen Lepley’s unexpected medical expenses.

It breaks our hearts to have to share this news, but my mother suddenly fell ill while on vacation in Florida. Her along with other family members traveled here from Ohio for my wedding just a week prior to her decline. My mother, father, and sister stayed an additional week after my wedding to spend more time with us here. Mom started to not feel well but overall her symptoms were very vague. It became clear her symptoms were critical, and she sought care at the local emergency room. She was admitted and unfortunately her overall condition quickly declined. For some unknown reason she contracted a bacterial infection that spread rather quickly and began attacking and shutting down her vital organs. In addition, the medication she is receiving to sustain her are also causing circulation issues, which possibly could result in a loss of multiple limbs. She is fully supported on a ventilator, continual dialysis, several antibiotics running through central lines, and a wound vac to her upper leg where an exploratory surgery was performed to try and determine the source of infection.

My mom is loved by so many, not only by myself and siblings, but also her two grandchildren who call her Nene and absolutely adore her. My sister Karlie is taking this extra hard as mom is truly her best friend. She recently retired and was finally getting to spend time with all of her family like she deserves. If you know mom, you know that she would give you the shirt off of her back, and has always given so much of herself to everyone. No one deserves to go through this but it’s especially heartbreaking to watch such a phenomenal person get hit with such an unimaginable tranedy.

As you can imagine this has come as a complete shock to the entire family and we are all still trying to wrap our heads around how this possibly could be happening to my mom who has one of the kindest hearts you will ever meet. Being in Florida adds an extra layer of difficulty as her closest family members are not able to see her like they would like to. Ultimately, her medical expenses are going to prove to be quite the hurdle. We appreciate any and every donation, whether that be monetary or just sending prayers and good vibes down south. We truly need and are believing for a miracle.
