Darla Kraslow Memorial Fundraiser

DARLA MARY KRASLOW
July 8, 1960 - October 17, 2018

Many have asked, "Please let me know what I can do to help. Is there anything you need?" The answer is YES, you can help create a lasting memorial/remembrance to this incredibly selfless and giving woman by donating toward the fight in the search of a Leukemia cure. 100% of these contributions will go to the City of Hope, Duarte CA, Leukemia Research.

Darla was the most beautiful, caring, & giving soul I have ever met. She was a truly dedicated mother to her daughter Kristen, and her son Andrew. Meeting her just over 10 years ago was an incredible blessing in my life, for which I am forever grateful. What brought us together was music and the magic that happens when two people feel the soul and heart of the music. Especially live music. Our live music experiences were very special, very personal, and very unique. We loved to travel every chance we got, and we loved to share these travels with our friends through our photos. We enjoyed frequent winery weekend getaways that included concerts and villas in the middle of a vineyard.

Darla touched everyone's life in such a caring and giving way. She was an incredible role model in her profession as a School Counselor at Long Beach Unified School District (most recently at Rogers Middle School). She was fiercely dedicated to making sure that every student she encountered had an opportunity to improve their lives, not only academically, but on a personal level as well. When the bell rang to go home, she did not walk out the door, but made sure her students and their parents were taken care of, before she took care of herself.

Her friends will tell you that once you met Darla, you were friends for life. Her personality was that of an angel. Again, loving and caring about every encounter she had. I was honored to be brought into her circle of friends, which was always ever widening through our travels and musical adventures. She encouraged me to return to radio broadcasting, and I did. Darla was selfless with all who touched her life, and would freely give of herself to help a friend in need.

Diagnosed with extremely aggressive leukemia in January of 2018, our world came crashing down. Darla spent the next 8 out of 9 months in hospitals, waiting for that stem-cell transplant that could save her life. We knew this was an uphill battle, but she NEVER gave up hope, and became our "Warrior Princess." She fought relentlessly for 9 months, recommitting her faith in God, and I was honored to be at her side every day, every battle. Her body could not fight any longer, and I worked tirelessly to bring her home as she so wanted, and she passed peacefully on October 17, 2018, surrounded by her family and closest friends.

Many of you have been asking "Please let me know what I can do to help. Is there anything you need?" Thankfully there are no outstanding medical expenses and final costs are all being handled. Now it is your turn. I would like to raise funds for a memorial for Darla at The City Of Hope in Duarte, California, where she and I spent the last 5 months of her life together. When she was able to, we would walk through the Rose Garden, and the Japanese Garden, admiring the beauty, and commenting about all the memorial tributes along our path. But that walk soon became too difficult.

This is where YOU come in. 100% of your donation would go to the City of Hope in Duarte CA, earmarked for their Leukemia Research projects. This includes a bronze memorial plaque in the Rose Garden  in remembrance of Darla, our "Warrior Princess,"  on the grounds of The City of Hope in Duarte CA.

Darla has left us far to soon, and she so made all of us better people by having known her. She touched our lives in a way few people can.

Thank you,
Alan (her loving and devoted husband)
