Dark Knight Robotics Road to World Championship!

We are a community-based competitive robotics team, that includes high school students from northland public schools (Platte County High School and Park Hill).

We are a robotics team that competes in VEX Robotics , the biggest robotics competition in the world. VEX Robotics Tournaments are held all over the World resulting in State, Regional, National, and ultimately a World Championship. The goal of VEX Robotics is to design a robot to a unique game created each year. This year's game requires the teams to stack towers of cubes in scoring zones and lift cubes in elevated towers to multiply the score. Each tournament consists of two separate competitions. The “Skills” portion allows each team to compete individually and post a score that contends for a Worldwide ranking.  The tournament portion consists of two teams forming a partnership, with their two robots, to compete as one alliance against an opposing alliance of two teams, all on a 12ft x 12ft field. Competitions are in a tournament format with multiple preliminary matches, ending with bracket play to determine the winning alliance. Each match has a two minute time limit and starts with a fifteen second “autonomous” period. During this time the robots are pre-programmed to score points and are not controlled by the drivers, with points being awarded to the “autonomous” winner. The “driver control” period then begins, with all four robots controlled and programmed by their drivers, to compete for, stack, and score the remaining cubes.

Dark Knight Robotics is a Kansas City, Missouri team that has been together for three years. Our team was founded by Jake Knudsen in the fall of 2017. The  inaugural 2017-18 season was a great success. Dark Knight Robotics competing as a middle school team, won the 2018 Missouri State High School Championship. The victory qualified Dark Knight Robotics to compete at the 2018 US Open and the 2018 World Championships. Jack Hampton joined the team soon after and traveled to compete at Nationals & World Championships in 2018.  Jake Knudsen & Jack Hampton continued their hard work in the 2018-2019 season with another victory at the 2019 Missouri State High School Championship & we enjoyed opportunities to participate in Signature Events (invitation only) at locations like California at Google & Virginia/DC for The Night at the Museum tournament! With the 2019 Missouri State Championship win, once again qualified for the 2018-19 US Open and  World Championships. This season (2019-2020), Hayden Clark and Xavier Bingham joined the Dark Knight Robotics team. Together, we are determined to improve our team, our engineering knowledge & our robot continuously, with the ultimate goal of being the best robotics team in the world. Our top 2019-2020 “Skills” score currently ranks us 42nd in the World (out of 20,000+ teams from over 50 countries!), but we aren’t going to stop there! We are determined to improve and continue our way up the World Rankings!

As a community-based team, we are self-funded, therefore, we are seeking sponsorship(s) & donations to support our efforts & our road to VEX Worlds 2020! The registration fees alone are $1000. We will dedicate all funds raised to our parts, materials, and regional/national competition fees.

Gratefully and with your help & support we will be able to compete in signature (invitation only) and great competitions around the U.S. and prepare for Nationals & Worlds 2020. Check out our website at Dark Knight Robotics for more information about our team, our goals, our accomplishments, & our road to Worlds 2020!

Thank you for your time & consideration!
