Darius Needs a Kidney
Donation protected
Halfway through his sophomore year at University of Alabama in February, Darius Haynes was rushed to a nearby hospital in Georgia with Stage 5 Chronic Kidney Failure. Wanting the best care possible for him, his incredible mom Keyana grabbed a pile of pillows and blankets, had him checked out against medical advice in between dialysis treatments and drove him by herself-through a snowstorm-to get him to Nemours Alfred I DuPont Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware. They're confident that Darius is in the right hands now, although the news has not been what they hoped for. His kidney biopsy came back this week confirming everyone's worst fear-Darius will need to get a new kidney. Instead of hanging out with his friends, Darius will now be placed on a Transplant list and we are all desperate for him to get a new healthy kidney. Nobody more so than his little brother SJ and his little sister Mckenzie, who want their big brother back.
Keyana now has to take care of Darius full time. This fundraiser's purpose is to help cover Darius' growing medical bills and day to day living expenses for Keyana, Darius, SJ and McKenzie until Darius receives a kidney transplant and Keyana is able to return to work. Please, if you are able to donate any amount, large or small, the family would be so very grateful. If you are unable to donate, please please send up prayers for Darius. As a kid, he was diagnosed with an extremely rare autoimmune disease called Polymyositis in 2009, and subsequently diagnosed with both Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis. He has dealt with so many hospitalizations, infusions, biopsies, etc. in his young life-and he has ALWAYS pushed through with a smile. This is the biggest challenge of his life to date but let's all step up and show him he's not alone. #TeamDarius And-if you, or anyone you know-would consider having bloodwork done to determine if you could be a kidney match for this incredible young man-please email [email redacted]
