In Memory of Darin Whitney: Assist Marlaina with this loss
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Marlaina Whitney, and I am reaching out for assistance with a very challenging and difficult time of loss.
It is with great sadness that I share that my father, Darin Whitney, somewhat suddenly passed away at the beginning of January. Towards the end of October, my father was diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer following a hospital admission for malnutrition. My father suffered with an addiction to alcohol my entire life, which unfortunately is what led him to become so malnourished. The hospitalization gave him a bit of a wake up call and put him back on track to becoming healthy, however he now was facing a much more serious battle with chemo and radiation ahead. He started chemo on Christmas eve with high hopes for a successful recovery, but unfortunately his body was still very weak and unable to sustain the side effects. He was re-admitted to the hospital less than a week after his first treatment, where he later succumbed to the effects.
Due to the rapid decline of my father‘s health, he was unable to establish any type of will or trust documents in time. Therefore, I must now hire an attorney and go through the process of probate to manage his estate. As one can imagine, this has created quite a financial burden on my already delicate and complex situation. I am also facing the overwhelming task of clearing out his property, which is very daunting because he was a bit of a hoarder. This poses yet another financial challenge because I will need to purchase multiple dumpsters to accomplish this task.
The purpose of this page is to help provide me with some assistance in getting his affairs in order and will be used for:
- My father’s personal debt in unpaid bills that have accumulated over the past year as his illness worsened.
- Cleaning fees to clear out his property.
- Attorney’s fees to get through the probate process.
- Memorial expenses to celebrate his life.
It is always awkward and discouraging to have to ask for help, so thank you all for reading my story. I am so grateful for any assistance you may be able to provide me.❤️
