On June 15, Darin underwent a risky, but necessary brain surgery, this surgery went well and showed no real complications. 3 days following the original surgery he developed a bleed on the brain. They had to do surgery again to place two drainage tubes to help relieve the pressure and remove the fluid off the brain. Following this surgery Darin experienced some difficulties with moving his left side and with recognizing where he was and what was happening around him. After roughly a week and a half in ICU, he has begun to regain movement and strength in his left side. He works daily with Occupational and Physical Therapy to rebuild the muscles.
His confusion of time and place will be a lengthy process to fully understand how he is going to be when fully healed.
He is going to require some additional skilled facility care following hospitalization to help him recover from and rebuild his strength. The confusion will likely take longer to heal from as it is a very slow process. His length of additional recovery is completely unknown at this time.
