2nd and final update.

On October 20th, 1 month after diagnosis. Darice went into surgery to stabilize her shoulder and femur. Unfortunately things didnt go as planned. During surgery she threw a clot to her heart and went into cardiac arrest. She left behind a loving husband, her parents, a sister, a son , 2 grand kids. Please share and help with final expenses and bills

This is the hardest post I've ever had to write on Facebook... that being said, I'm ripping off the bandaid.

In the early hours of Sunday, September 21st, during my shift at work, I experienced the worst back pain I have ever felt. I went to the ER, and after bloodwork and a CT scan of my spine, I was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer that spread to my spine, hips, and ribs. I was admitted for pain control and further testing. After 5 days, I was able to come home and finish my radiation therapy as outpatient.

My pain is getting better, but I have more lesions popping up everywhere, my shoulders, clavicles, pelvis, and even my nose!

Today, I met with my oncology team to formulate a plan. My cancer is not curable, but it is treatable and that can extend my life for a while. How long do I have? Worst case, 2 years. I will fight this for as long as I can. I trust my doctors to treat me the best way possible. There is nothing to say, nothing to do. I don't want your sympathy, and I don't want your beliefs forced on me, I have my own. I'm not saying you can't pray, or whatever your religion demands of you, you are entitled to do or say what you wish. Just send positive thoughts, vibes, good wishes, etc.

What I want is for you, my friends, to live life every day without regret. Laugh, love, do what makes you happy. Don't hold back anything. Ever.

Time is never guaranteed, it is only a precious gift that allows us the chance to love and be loved.

Hello friends, let me introduce you to my best friend and forever work mom, Darice Campbell Brown. She has been just diagnosed with lung cancer with metastasis to the hip, back, and ribs. She will need treatment such as radiation and chemo.

For those who know her, she is kind, loving, and friendly.

She works as an RN at UC. As many know, with cancer, the financial burden is going to be high. She will have to miss work to go to appointments and if she is worn out.

She literally would do anything for anyone, as I have firsthand experience from when I was hospitalized. Even when she wasn't on shift, she was always there repositioning me or just making sure I was good. Let's provide her support so she doesn't have to stress about where this money is going to come from for household bills and medical bills.
