Darian’s Meningioma Battle

QUICK RECAP OF THE PAST FEW MONTHS, shes battled with serve migraines for a while & they were just steadily getting worse, She was finally able to get in to see a neurologist where they immediately scheduled for her to have some scans done. On December 14th we received one of the scariest calls of our life & that was they had found a Mass behind her right eye, and immediately started the appointments being scheduled for any specialist she needed to see!

FAST FORWARD TO WHERE WE ARE NOW, After meeting with one of the top ranked ophthalmologist a couple of weeks ago & meeting with one of the top ranked Neurosurgery Specialist yesterday we now know that we’re dealing with a rather large Meningioma (brain tumor) that has taken over majority of the right side of her brain behind her right eye ( optic nerve, carotid artery in her brain, and olfactory nerve are all wrapped up in it). So as of 1/05/22 she will be undergoing a Craniotomy for them to go in & try to safely remove as much of the tumor as possible without causing any farther damages, after they remove what they can from surgery we will talk radiation down the rest for the remainder. There are a lot of risk that come with having this surgery (blindness, stroke, possible shunt placement, movement of her eyelid, etc) and just because she has this surgery doesn’t mean it fixes it. She is single mother of a 3 year old little boy and has been out of work for over a month with no idea of when she will be able to return. Her mom is the only income that they have right now and it’s tough with her not being able to work for having to be with her at the hospital and be her way of transportation. Darian’s insurance will only go so far with medical expenses and doesn’t include transportation to/from hospital stays, rehab, dr appointments and post op care.
