Daria's Liver Transplant Journey
Donation protected
My name is Daria Miller. I was born, raised and educated in lovely Atlanta Georgia. I'm married, have 3 adult children and 3 beautiful grandchildren. I am a faithful member of Greater Fair Hill Baptist Church which is awesome. And I work for the best hospital in Atlanta, Emory University Hospital. Blessed and thankful for all of that.
In 2008 I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis "UC". It's a autoimmune digestive disease. I was later diagnosed with primary sclerosing cholangitis "PSC", Yep it's a lot of alphabets. PSC causes the ducts in my liver to narrow and block. Bile doesn't flow which ultimately causes cirrhosis of the liver as well as cancer of the ducts. To keep my liver as healthy as possible and keep me from being hospitalized with an infection, every 3 to 4 weeks I have to be put to sleep, a camera is put down my throat and my ducts dilated and cleaned out. My liver doesn't function well at all. I have weight loss, muscle loss, anemia, loss of appetite, jaundice, itching and extreme fatigue. So I need a new liver.
I have just completed 60 radiation therapy treatments and continuing on oral chemotherapy meds. The best news is that I have been approved for a liver transplant.
This is why I need your help. Out of pocket cost of my liver transplant can be in excess of 100,000. Unfortunately that does not include the lost wages of family needed to help me recover or travel expenses for multiple trips to hospital per week once I receive my new liver.
If you are able to help, please donate. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story. God bless.
