Daria Surowiak Cancer Treatment

Hello, my name is Suzanne Kennedy Rajchel (Naperville Central HS '81, Univ of IL '86).
I'm organizing a fundraiser for one of my very closest friends, Daria Surowiak (nee Wochok, NCHS/Univ of IL), who's closer than a sister to me. Daria has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4, B-Cell Lymphoma, following a 1-1/2 year journey of mysterious health conditions and immune symptoms. If you know Daria, you know what a vibrant, spirited, loyal, friendly, warm-hearted, funny, encouraging, godly woman she is. A wonderful mother of two daughters (Kessa, 18 and Emory, 21). Dancer extraordinaire (her passion is Salsa/Bachata). Beautiful singer. Talented, creative professional interior designer. Leader of women seeking refuge from destructive relationships. Follower of Jesus. If you don't know Daria, she's the kind of person anyone would love to know and call "friend".

 

Daria is now in the fight of her life. She's chosen a treatment center away from home (Malvern, PA) in Clearwater, Florida. It offers chemo treatment that's supportive to the body, along with other treatments for her numerous other immune issues. They've told her this is curable. Getting this far has already required HUGE miracles! Daria's faith and understanding that God can move MOUNTAINS led her to to press on the doors of "impossibility," trusting fully in "the God of Possible" to get her to Florida to begin immediate treatment. He's been faithful! She's now believing He'll open His endless storehouse of PROVISION through the generosity of other people. It's FAITH BEYOND REASON.....All of this is only possible with financial assistance. She's no longer able to work for the foreseeable future, so is without income. Treatments involve intense, 6 to 8 hour days, 5 days per week. She's used her life savings on surgery and treatment costs to date. Will you be part of her prayer and/or support team with regular prayer or financial generosity?

THE NEED: Starting January 3, 2022 and every 5 weeks after, Daria will need to pay $31,000 for each installment of treatment and chemotherapy at the center. In addition, she'll need money for her studio apartment from Jan-March at a minimum, along with other living and personal expenses, drugs and supplements, additional doctor's appointments & unexpected procedures, etc. Further, Daria's lease on her home in PA is $2200 per month. Lastly, she needs to pay remaining out of pocket costs for medical bills from September & October's diagnostic procedures, including surgery to remove a lymph node for pathology testing. These balances are currently on credit cards. The total need for all is estimated at $120,000 through April. It's daunting, but the Owner of everything is on her side!  Money for the 1st treatment bill and credit card balances is needed in the next 1-2 weeks.

 

Treatment summary: 2nd week of treatment completed! Daria moved into a studio apartment, rented from a family of previous patients from the treatment center.  She is currently in a 4-week treatment course and will fly back to PA on December 19th for the holidays. She plans to drive back to Florida by January 3rd to continue chemo, and will remain for approximately 3 months (or longer depending the cancer's progress toward remission).

ABOUT ME: Daria and I have been friends since our freshman year of high school. We've walked through so much life together: marriage, careers, parenting, divorces, reviving our lives and re-claiming our singleness. First and foremost, she's my sister in Christ. We've also been close partners, locked arm-in-arm, in the path of learning how to be overcomers. I'm believing that this new healing journey of Daria's will be her promotion to THRIVING, so she can become a healing agent of grace in many other women's lives!!!
