Hello Family & Friends,
As many of you know Dari is fighting the battle of her life right now trying to beat cancer, more specifically Melanoma. With Pedram's permission I am reaching out to their friends and family, so that we can relieve some of the financial burden that they will have due to this medical crisis. They do have health insurance, but there are large deductibles and other expenses that need to be paid.
Dari's diagnosis started out with the simple removal of Melanoma just over a year ago. She has been closely monitored and she was cancer free. Unfortunately, a scan in January showed that the Melanoma had returned and she would need a biopsy and surgery to remove the melanoma and one lymph node. The surgery appeared to be a success at the time. Additional scans in February and March revealed the cancer had spread to Dari's vertebrae, pelvis , lymph nodes and spleen. Long story short, Dari started immunotherapy treatments in mid-March and things have deteriorated rapidly. The immunotherapy treatments actually started attacking Dari's organs causing her unimaginable pain and extreme difficulty breathing. The cancer has now spread to her lungs as well. She was hospitalized nearly three weeks ago. Dari is not able to communicate right now and Pedram has been staying at her bedside 24/7 for the past couple of weeks. Due to COVID he cannot leave or he will not be allowed to return.
Since immunotherapy is no longer an option, they are trying a new oral medication used in the treatment of Melanoma. Dari started this new treatment two days ago and we have significant signs of improvement. She has had two decent nights sleep and is now able to get up from her bed a few times a day with the use of her walker. We have a long way to go, but it was so exciting to get some good news. Let's all keep praying that this treatment continues to help her recover.
This is my first time actually launching a Go Fund me campaign, but I have seen the amazing way it has helped others in times of crisis. I know all of us love them both dearly and want to help. If we could raise at least $10K that would do a lot to offset the large deductibles. If we can raise more that would be even better. I am trying to do most of this on my own, so I will need the help of all of you to be able to get this campaign to everyone who can help. Please feel free to share this campaign with others that I might not have their contact and you can also share the campaign on Facebook, since I do not have a Facebook account. I will try to continue to provide updates since I am in daily contact with Pedram. Again, Dari is not able to communicate with any of us right now, so please just keep her in your prayers until we all can hear her infectious laugh again and see that smile that lights up a room.
I am sure hospital bills and cancer treatment bills will start rolling in quickly, so I would like to raise as much as we can in a short amount of time. You can reach me anytime through this campaign. I would love to add as many people on this campaign as possible, but I will need their contact information or you will need to forward it to them. For those of you who do not know me, Dari has been one of my closest and dearest friends for over 30 years. I love her dearly and she is like family. If we get to the point where we can start delivering meals to help them out, I will let you know. This is not something that we need to worry about at this time.
