Dear Family and Friends,
I am writing to share about my husband, Darek Klassen's, medical situation. In February he developed chronic kidney failure and his doctors said a kidney transplant is the best medical treatment. Since February he has been doing dialysis treatments.
His surgery and recovery will take place in Vancouver, B.C where he will stay for at least three months. Once discharged Darek is responsible for his accommodations, transportation, meals, etc... Due to Covid this is trickier whereas under normal circumstances he would have had some options to stay but these places are not accepting any new patients or clients. So he must find a hotel or an AirBNB that will be safe, comfortable, and convenient to the hospital. He will also require a support person to be with him at all times to help with daily living.
As you can imagine this will be pretty costly and we just don't have enough funds and need help. All funding will go towards Darek's stay and recovery in Vancouver and if there is another way you would like to contribute to his cause please let us know.
It was recommended that we express how urgent this situation is and it is just that. Darek's quality of life has greatly suffered and without this transplant his life expectancy is reduced. So it is very important to him and his family that he gets the transplant and recovers.

I will be staying home with our three children Reed (4.5yrs), Branch (3 yrs) and Aster (1.5yrs) which will be eleven hours away from Darek so unfortunately I will not be able to help directly.
