Help us Save High Risk Shelter Dogs

Donation protected
Animal shelters in Los Angeles are overwhelmingly overcrowded, which leads to healthy and adoptable dogs being euthanized to make space for the incoming. We want to help solve this problem by supporting the building of a sanctuary for dogs in Colorado. Rescues would then transport dogs out of the shelters to the sanctuary, in an effort to help lower the euthanasia rate. We are so excited to support Karla Boss in making this dream a reality, as Karla and her family will be living and working on the property. We need your help to get her there.

Learn more about Karla and this initiative below:

Karla Boss has dedicated her life to saving the lives of as many dogs as she can by rescuing, fostering and rehabilitating dogs in need. For the past 15 years she has welcomed an average of 50-100 dogs per year into her modest sized home in Huntington Beach, California. Karla takes in the young, the old, the sick, the large breed dogs that nobody wants. She takes the pregnant mamas and their babies who get dumped at the shelters and gives them a quiet and safe space to nurse and relax. Karla welcomes those who have been thrown away like trash, or in the trash… with open arms. She is an essential part of our rescue organization and of many others. In time, with TLC and the help of her own pack of canine angels, Karla nurses the sick, heals their trauma, earns their trust, and pieces back together broken hearts. For many, it’s their first invitation to sleep on a dog bed, on the sofa, or even inside of a house for that matter. Karla lives and breathes each and every one of these babies, providing around the clock comfort, care, and unconditional love until they find their Forever Homes. You couldn’t ask for a bigger asset to Los Angeles shelter dogs.

To Karla, and her entire family, the answer is simple. Dare to Dream. Purchase a property where the pet overpopulation problem is not an issue, move there, and turn it into a ranch for rescues. Dogs would be rescued from high kill shelters and transported to the ranch - where they will live and be loved so hard until they find their Forever Homes. Karla estimates this move could more than double her current amount of lives saved each year. In actual numbers, she projects she would be able to host the upwards of 300 dogs annually. This means her family alone would be reducing the euthanasia rate of dogs in Los Angeles.

Right now Karla’s ability to help is constrained by the size of her current property. Serendipitously, a personal connection of Karla’s is selling their ranch near Denver. It’s on 33 gorgeous acres of open space and they are offering Karla first dibs(!)… AND it’s THE PERFECT safe haven for dogs. The ranch includes a house, plus a fully functioning heated barn for those who need a quiet place to decompress and rejuvenate. Inside is also a calm, WARM nesting space for mamas and their babies. The large breeds are the first in the shelters to be euthanized and are perfectly suited for adopters out West where there is space to run, mountains to hike, and snow to play in.

Praying we can make Karla’s dream a reality in honor of our beloved furry best friends. Humbly reaching out for your help. To make this happen we need to pull our hearts and resources together and come up with $800,000. Yes. It’s quite a number. But if each one of us gives $5 we can get there. It takes a Village. Karla would like to place an offer on the property by July 1, 2023, so we are hustling. Big time. Anything helps. Please share this fundraiser with your personal network and on your social platforms… twice ;) We have a big mountain to climb. But we can do it together. Together we can move mountains. Our transport drivers are ready.

You guys, let’s empower Karla and her compassionate family to fulfill their life’s purpose. Together we can manifest this dream into reality and help save so many bound angels.
