I am reaching out to you today with a heartfelt request for your support in an important endeavor that holds great significance for my future – my pursuit of higher education.

This is my last year (Senior) at California State Monterey Bay I am writing to share my story and ask for your assistance in raising the necessary funds to cover my tuition expenses.

I was born In Mexico and raised in Greenfield, California. I am a first-generation, College Mexican-American student. I am the first person in my family to attend college. I am a recipient of DACA. I have very little memory of or connection with the country I was born. Under current immigration law, I currently have no way to gain legal residency even though I have lived in the U.S. most of my life.

My professional aspiration is to become a teacher and complete a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies with a Minor in Human Development and Family Science in the spring of 2024. After completing my undergrad degree my next step will be to apply to the College of Education Graduate Programs at California State University Monterey Bay in the Summer of 2024. I will ultimately seek to obtain My teaching credentials and a Master of Arts in Education Degree.

I am a “Dreamer” and must solely rely on any available Cal Grant

money. I am a D.A.C.A student and I are ineligible for federal financial aid or access to federal loans. I do not get FAFSA. I was always forced to work multiple jobs and rely on scholarships.

I travel over 80 miles a day & 160 miles a week just to attend my classes.

During my college experience, I was excluded from internships, research opportunities, and certain professions due to my immigration status. This limited many opportunities. I have had to use credit card-like loans to help with tuition.

Este es mi último año (Senior) en California State Monterey Bay. Le escribo para compartir mi historia y pedirle ayuda para recaudar los fondos necesarios para cubrir mis gastos de matrícula.

Nací en México y crecí en Greenfield, California. Soy un estudiante universitario mexicano-americano de primera generación. Soy la primera persona de mi familia en asistir a la universidad. Soy beneficiario de DACA. Tengo muy pocos recuerdos o conexión con el país donde nací. Según la ley de inmigración actual, actualmente no tengo forma de obtener la residencia legal a pesar de que he vivido en los EE. UU. la mayor parte de mi vida.

Mi aspiración profesional es completar una Licenciatura en Estudios Liberales con especialización en Desarrollo Humano y Ciencias de la Familia en la primavera de 2024. Después de completar mi licenciatura, mi próximo paso será postularme a los Programas de Posgrado de la Facultad de Educación de la Universidad Estatal de California. Bahía de Monterey en el verano de 2024. En última instancia, buscaré obtener mis credenciales de enseñanza y una Maestría en Educación.

Soy un “Dreamer” y debo depender únicamente de cualquier Cal Grant disponible. Soy un estudiante de D.A.C.A y no soy elegible para recibir ayuda financiera federal ni acceder a préstamos federales. No recibo FAFSA. Siempre me vi obligado a realizar múltiples trabajos y depender de becas.

Viajo más de 80 millas por día y 160 millas por semana para viajar a mis clases.

Durante mi experiencia universitaria, fui excluido de pasantías, oportunidades de investigación y ciertas profesiones debido a mi estatus migratorio. Esto limitó muchas oportunidades.
