Darcie, Alex, and little Loïc need us.
Donation protected
On the morning of May 31st, Darcie and Loïc were the victim of a horrendous accident. They were on their way to work and daycare when Darcie was unavoidably hit head on by a reckless driver. Darcie and Loïc both sustained significant injuries. As a result, both were flown to Edmonton. Loïc spent a few days at the Stollery Children’s Hospital and has since been discharged. Darcie remains admitted in the trauma unit at the University of Alberta Hospital undergoing multiple surgeries and recieving intensive care. The list of her injuries is long.
We are forever grateful for the first responders and medical teams that have provided and continues to give excellent care to them both.
At the moment, we anticipate that Darcie will be in Edmonton for 2 to 3 weeks to manage her many injuries. After this time she may be transferred back to a local hospital where she can be closer to family and friends and continue her healing journey.
But this is just the beginning.
While it shouldn’t have happened in the first place, it couldn’t have happened at a busier time in their lives. A generous community of family and friends has already begun providing the hands-on work that they’ve needed; shuffling vehicles, helping to pack and move houses, dealing with remains of the wreckage, and tending to the animals. In the long road ahead, there will no doubt be significant unforeseen costs.
In an effort to help relieve at least a small portion of their pressure and stress, it’s our turn to help where we can.
Any donation great or small would be humbly and gratefully accepted to help cover the financial burden of what has happened and what is yet to come.
