Our sweet 5-year-old daughter, Daphne, has always been a ray of light; creative, silly, full of imagination, and brave beyond her years. Over the past month, she’s faced something no child should ever have to face: a rare and serious bone marrow disorder called Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) with Monosomy 7.
What started as a simple fever and a trip to the ER quickly turned into a life-changing diagnosis. After extensive testing, doctors discovered that Daphne’s bone marrow wasn’t producing healthy cells, and the only cure would be a bone marrow transplant.
The Road Ahead
We are now preparing for Daphne’s transplant journey — a process that will involve high-dose chemotherapy, weeks in the hospital, and months of close monitoring afterward. While her medical team is incredible and we are confident she’ll get the best care possible, the reality is that even with insurance coverage, the costs are substantial.
Our out-of-pocket maximum is $5,000, but there are additional expenses that come with a transplant and recovery, including medications, post-care, missed work, and unexpected medical needs. To ensure we can fully focus on Daphne’s health without financial stress, we’re setting our fundraising goal at $12,000.
Why We’re Grateful and How You Can Help
We’re incredibly fortunate to live just 15 minutes from the hospital, which means we don’t face the added burden of long-term travel or lodging costs. But as parents, we want to make sure Daphne has everything she needs throughout this process; from the best possible care to comfort and stability at home after her transplant.
Your donation will help cover:
The $5,000 insurance out-of-pocket maximum.
Additional medical costs and prescriptions not covered by insurance.
Lost income during treatment and recovery.
Supplies and comfort items to support Daphne’s healing.
Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a tangible difference.
Our Promise
We’ll keep this page updated with Daphne’s progress and share her milestones along the way. Your love, prayers, and encouragement mean the world to us. Knowing we have a community behind us gives us strength for the hard days ahead.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for walking alongside Daphne and our family on this journey.
With love and gratitude,
Morgan, Chris, Daphne, and Astrid
