Hello, my name is Michelle and I'm trying to raise a bit of money to contribute towards vet bills to get us through this difficult time.
Daphne is such a special dog and has been through so much.
On 26/12/2024, Daphne was hit by 2 cars and suffered a severe brain injury. Despite the odds, and after spending 10 days in ARH Emergency, Daphne relearnt how to walk, run, jump, eat and just be her Daphne self.
4 months later, Daphne had a series of cluster focal seizures, which landed her back in ARH emergency again. By some miracle, she pulled through for the second time and was able to come home.
Daphne's story was so special and resonated with alot of people, that she won Australian Dog of the Year - People's Choice for 2025!
Everyone was so lovely during this difficult time, and rallied behind all of us. I cannot thank everyone enough for their contribution and support.
I am asking if anyone would be able to help out again?
Today, after nearly 2 years, Daphne has been admitted back to ARH Emergency.
The vet isn't too sure what is going on at the moment.
We thought Daphne had a seizure today that lasted 5-10 minutes, but the vet said it's not typical presentation for a seizure. We are all very confused. Poor Daphne was so scared and terrified, thrashing around, howling and barking, and peed and pooped all over herself.
The vet is going to do bloods and a urine test, and monitor her for any seizure activity.
I just want my baby Duck to be happy, especially after all she has been through.
I'm also having my own troubles. I've had to stop working for the foreseeable future which makes the money side of doing what's best for Daphne a bit tricky.
Nearly 4 weeks ago, I developed what appears to be an ulcer on the inside of my ankle. It's only getting bigger and deeper, and no one knows how to heal it. It means I can't walk or stand on my left foot much, which is great for working in a cattery. I've been applying for jobs I can do that don't require much standing (reception jobs etc) but am having no luck.
I don't like asking for help, but we are in a really tough place. It's been $1,300 in vet bills so far, with more to be paid tomorrow. I'm always one to donate to charities and gofundme's, even when I probably don't have the funds to do so , in hopes that if I needed it, the favour would be returned.
I want what's best for my Daphy Duck, and hope that our lovely community can help me achieve that
I understand if it's Daphne's time, but I want to do everything in my power to find out what is going on and to see if Daphne can have a quality of life again
Thank you in advance
