Dante's Road To Recovery From Tragic Car Accident
Donation protected

Here is an explanation of the full incident:
On December 14th around 7:00am, Dante was heading to work and about to leave the apartment complex. The left turn out of the complex has a history of being dangerous due to the blind spots from oncoming traffic. In fact, prior to the accident, I had called the city multiple times sharing my concerns about the safety there, but never received a return call. While pulling out, he couldn’t see a speeding car and it T boned him on the driver's side.
My brother and I, who work as firefighters, were home at the time and were woken up by the impact, as well as a lot of people yelling that there was a crash. We went out to go help and see what happened. The other driver of the car was alert, oriented, and had no major trauma, while Dante was still in his car, unconscious. Our neighbor, who was an off duty EMT, was the first on scene and checked on his condition. She was holding bandages to cover a laceration on the back of his head. My brother and I worked on extricating him from his car, while maintaining support of his spine position to make sure he was not going to suffer further injuries.
Once Marina Fire, Marina PD, and AMR arrived, we soon were able to safely extricate him from the vehicle and into the ambulance. I attempted to ride with him in the ambulance, but unfortunately was not allowed since I was off duty. He was first transported to Natividad Medical Center, and then airlifted to Stanford Medical Center.
He sustained life threatening internal injuries including brain trauma, aortic tearing, multiple pelvic fractures, chest fractures, as well as other possible injuries, and is currently in a coma in ICU. The recommended treatment would be multiple surgeries as well as intense physical therapy following the critical monitoring he is receiving currently.
If you would like to offer financial support, donations would be greatly appreciated. These funds will help go towards the high cost of his medical care including multiple surgeons, ER care, ambulance and airlift transportation, physical therapy, and unknown future treatment.
Dante is 21 years old, grew up in Salinas, California, and now currently resides in Marina with my brother and me. His interests are creating music, shredding on the guitar, spending time with his family, and golfing with his dad. He works as a postal carrier with USPS as a very hard working and dedicated employee.
