Dante’s Legal Transition Fund ‍⚖️

My name is Dante, I’m turning 20 and I’m a trans man. I’ve been out publically for about 4 years, but first realised and told someone about 8 years back now. Transitioning is hard enough in and of itself, and can take a lot of emotional and financial strain throughout several years. I’ve had quite a lot of that since I’m an immigrant, and am still an Italian citizen, although i have settled status and have been living here since I was 8 years old. I’d love to save up for top surgery right now, but all of my official documents- license, passport, pay slips, bank letters, university docs, lease- everything has my dead name on it and it is such a source of discomfort to constantly have to correct people. When I get blood tests to monitor my HRT, I get dead-named by my doctor because that’s what it says on the system (regardless of how many notes they add to my file saying it’s Dante). I am exhausted and I know I wouldn’t be able to pay for these changes in full anytime soon. It is virtually impossible to officially transition in Italy from London, where I live. It is hard enough to do it while living there, as the transphobic government aims to make it extremely difficult (requiring lawyers, court orders, many applications and charges, it would probably take years to do it from abroad). So I have no choice but to apply for citizenship and fully kick-start my transition once I obtain it. I plan to live here for many many years to come, so it will also make my life easier in so many other ways (applying for Anything requires me to prove my status right now). I turn 20 in December and as I hit my 2nd year of adulthood I’d love to feel and be closer to the goals I’ve had for years.
