We are not in the middle of a sob story, neither are we living out a tragedy.
What we are walking out is an epic Victory!
As is true of all such epic tales, there has been adventure... risk... challenge... battles... and heroism!
Dan certainly hasn’t had it easy, but then when do heroes ever have it easy?!
This journey of healing began in June, when Dan, my husband, was given the bad report: Lymphoma. Rather than going the medical route immediately, we chose to pursue faith in the healing power of Jesus. 1 Peter 2:24 says “by His stripes you were healed”! We grabbed ahold of that promise and spent the summer and early fall in pursuit of knowing God in a deeper way and experiencing His presence... praying for and believing in healing. We learned (and continue to learn!) so much about faithfulness, patience, hope and trust.
In November, the Lord showed us that it was time to include doctors and medicine in our journey. At that time, the tumor in Dan’s neck had grown large and was causing constant pain and sleeplessness, including some bouts of passing out due to the pain.
Dan began receiving chemotherapy in November... the first round started on November 19th after an ER visit. We have a total of 6 rounds of chemotherapy so this journey of healing has a ways to go.
We have witnessed the incredible protection of the Lord, as the rest of Dan’s body was shielded from the spread of the cancer. His body also responded incredibly well to the first dose of chemo, avoiding any issues with toxicity as the tumor drained. Dan is weak in body right now as his white blood cells are recovering. But he is strong and courageous at heart!
However...
--- Our biggest challenge right now is financial. ---
Our current insurance plan, unfortunately, is very minimal in its coverage. We know some big bills are coming soon... some have already shown up. We are walking out this part of our journey with our Good Shepherd and we trust that He will continue to be faithful to provide for our needs.
