Dan's Version 3 Esight Glasses

Donation protected
Dan Aucoin began to lose his vision when he was in his teens. The education he received at the W.Ross MacDonald School for the Blind & Deafblind helped him become independent into his 20s and 30s.  In his late 30s, he began to lose more of his vision. At this point, he has 3% vision.

Dan sees better with white images on black backgrounds, with increased magnification and in dimmer light. Assistive devices such as screen readers compensate for some of these issues, but are not readily available in the community, and do not work with all forms of technology that is used today, and in every situation.

Esight Eyewear is a leader in creating low vision technology. They’ve designed eyewear that will replace all of the technology he uses & give him access to more independence than ever before. With this eyewear, he will be able to adjust the settings to create the best conditions for him to see.  With these glasses, he will be able to work more independently, and take part in activities he hasn’t been able to for 25 years.

What you pay to be able to see things you’ve never seen before? How much is more

Independence worth? For Dan Aucoin - $13,000. None of it covered by provincial or federal programs. Over 75% of the funds must be raised.
