Dan’s Transport & Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Dan Shadley was riding his motorcycle with family and friends through Spearfish Canyon in South Dakota when he went off the road on August 6. For the last two weeks and counting, Dan has been in the hospital with injuries including a broken elbow, fractured pelvis, tailbone and 2 vertebrae, and a traumatic brain injury.
Prior to the accident, Dan was a hard working construction machine operator who just moved to a new apartment in Worcester, MA with his girlfriend Melissa. At 26, he takes pride in his operator skills and the contributions he makes to a construction project, and in being financially independent. In his limited free time, he enjoys making a home with Melissa and their dog, Oscar, and spending time with family. In the week before the accident, Dan rode a motorcycle 2,300 miles with his dad, uncles, cousins and many friends from Massachusetts to Spearfish, SD, to enjoy the camaraderie and riding of Bike Week.
Dan wants to leave the hospital in SD and return to Massachusetts for his recovery and rehabilitation. This requires a medical flight which is not covered by insurance. Upon his return to MA, he will enter an acute care TBI rehab facility to begin the long, hard work of recovery. As an independent young man, Dan is facing daunting medical bills including the hospital stay, med flight and inpatient and outpatient rehab. All donations will assist with these costs plus normal living expenses while he is unable to earn an income. Many thanks from Dan!
