Dan's Marathon for Dementia Support Group
After one cancelled attempt, 16 weeks and over 700km of training I'll be running the Thames Meander Marathon on 7 August 2021.
I'm running the marathon to raise money for Young Onset Dementia Support Group in Kirkless, Yorkshire. The group provides a place to maintain and develop skills, interests and hobbies etc in a friendly and supportive environment. They offer a once weekly activity/social meeting which includes getting out and about in the community.
My Dad has attended this group for the last few years as he has lived through the various stages of his dementia. The group has been a great support to Dad, allowing him to make friends with other people of a similar age living with the same condition.
Any small donation would be appreciated and give me that extra incentive on race day. The money would go towards supporting the groups volunteers who give up their time to run the various activities.
