Dan's Hip Surgery Recovery Fund

We are writing this on behalf of Dan Miller and his wife, Lee Ann Verboom. Both are longtime contributing residents of Salt Spring and hardworking individuals. Dan works at Country Grocer, and Lee Ann works for BC Ferries. Many of you may recognize them, or you may recognize Dan's voice as the host of his Friday Night Gulf Islands Radio show, where he has been volunteering for years, bringing new music to the people and airwaves of Salt Spring.

Over the past year, Dan has been battling long Covid and has continued working despite his health issues. On Thursday September 7th, in the morning, he had a seizure and fell causing a critical fracture of his right hip and needed immediate hip replacement. He is recovering at Royal Jubilee Hospital after being transferred from Victoria General Hospital. As a result, Dan will not be able to return to work or financially support himself for several months, and he greatly needs the community's support while he recovers. The road to recovery will hopefully seem a little shorter with all of our generous and loving support. He will be needing our assistance with food, shelter, phone bills, medical trips and equipment and all basic needs.
