Dan's Health Challenges

Our friend and colleague Dan Balchen received some bad medical news over the weekend. He has been struggling with breathing and maintaining oxygen levels. While we were all hoping it was just due to the "Leadville Air" it has turned out to be more serious. Dan had surgery on Saturday and they found cancer in his lungs. He is at Swedish Hospital in Denver.

Dan has decided ( I sadly agree with him) that it is best to return to Chicago to be close to his family. He actually found a place on Lake Shore Drive in the same building and floor where his sister lives. BTW she is a great cook so we know Dan will eat well. This move will allow him to reconnect with his favorite oncologist and receive state-of-the-art medical care.

In true Chicago fighting spirit. Dan plans to take time to live life to the fullest while being surrounded by family and friends. I created this page for any of you who might want to financially help our friend launch into this new phase of his life journey.
