Late on the evening of July 5th, my wife, children and I drove home to Dallas after spending eight days celebrating my brother's wedding with my parents and family in Louisiana.  My father woke up the next morning with chest pains and less than 24 hours later had to have an emergency quadruple bypass heart surgery near his home in Baton Rouge.  Aside from him being a Type Two diabetic, the 80% blockage of his heart came as a total surprise to all of us... one of the doctors even said, "it could have taken his life in his sleep."

As miracle procedures occur, my Dad came through the surgery quite well and has been recovering like a champ. The doctors marveled at his quick progress and released him to go home on the afternoon of Monday, July 11th.

My father, Dan Richey, is 67 years old.   As his recovery continues, his health condition leaves him unable to work.  He has been a contracted consultant for the last number of years in his career, and thus has no unemployment benefits.  While my mother, Jessie, will be his primary caretaker, my sister is taking time away from living in California to provide additional aid in his recovery.  Our goal will help cover everything from immediate prescriptions and medical bills, to routine household expenses.

Our parents have always been more willing to lend a hand than ask for help themselves.  That is why any donation you could make during this time would be deeply appreciated.  My wife and I are expecting Paw-Paw's next grandchild in the middle of August, and we want his heart and home to be warm and fortified for that introduction!  Thanks for your consideration, and of course, for your thoughts and prayers, too.
