My name is Danny, and I am a disabled person living at home with my mother, my cat, and her dog. We live in poverty, and currently, our housing voucher is in jeopardy. I am unable to work because of chronic complications associated with my disabilities, and I am currently working with a lawyer to begin receiving social security payments. Though we have a housing voucher, my mother gets a bit of income through disability, so we still have to pay rent on top of paying for utilities and food. I fully expect our situation to improve once I am approved for disability payments myself, but right now, we are at risk of losing our home.

I have been in contact with energy assistance programs in my area but have been told that they basically didn't have any money left to dole out to anyone at all. Right now, our gas is off, and we are at risk of losing access to electricity and water. The insulation of our house isn't very good, so we ended up relying on our heat more than we wanted during the winter months. It was so bad that we could see our breath indoors if we didn't. I was only allowed to see the bill recently, after the gas was cut off.

I am asking for help so that I do not lose my home. Every bit will go towards paying utility bills, starting with paying for the reconnection of our gas. Neither of us have anywhere to go if we lose this voucher and no way to afford anywhere else even if we were to combine income after my approval.
