Danny's Double Lung Transplant, Round 2!
Donation protected
Lungs are cool right? That is, as long as they aren’t affected by Pleuralparenchymal Fibroelastosis (PPFE). For those that don’t know, PPFE is what my lifelong best friend Danny Huml was diagnosed with back in 2017 which led to his double lung transplant in June of 2019. To make a long and complicated story short for the sake of this description, Danny gradually became ill over this past year prompting the need for ANOTHER double lung transplant. For a detailed explanation Danny and his wife Stefani’s journey, check out the Lung Winded blog Stefani has created here: https://lungwinded.com/
I am happy to say that a few days ago on June 13th, Danny received the phone call they’ve been waiting for and the following day Danny’s transplant surgery began. The surgery went fantastic and the follow up has been going as good as they can ask for! Almost 4 years to the day from the first transplant.
As one can imagine, the road to this point has been unfathomable and it’s not over yet. Organ transplants require unbelievable amounts of lifelong medications, follow up appointments, and general health vulnerability that require strict adherence. The good news is, Danny is one of the toughest human beings you will ever meet, and Stefani is right there with him. Their mental, physical, and emotional strength throughout this process is nothing short of amazing. Fortunately, many people have reached out in many ways to help support the Huml’s throughout this journey which is what brings us here. Currently it is unknown when Danny will be able to return to work. This is where we as friends and family can help out by either donating through this go fund me, or another option is to send some love is by sending a check, cards, or well wishes to PO BOX 1076, Janesville, WI 53545. We hope that when Danny heals and eventually gets released from the hospital that our generosity can help quickly get them back to a somewhat normal life.
Thank you all for the support!
