Please find it in your heart to help my friend and her family.
12-year-old boy Danny went from healthy to a wheelchair and excruciating pain within 3 weeks. It is very difficult to see him in so much pain and the family needs to make some life changes to support and help him. Some of these changes include selling their home and getting a handicap accessible home or apartment, taking a leave from work to provide full-time care for him, they need some handicap equipment to provide his basic needs.
Danny’s Story
On April 16, 2017 he started feeling sick and was not able to eat. This resulted in a trip to the ER to find out what was wrong. The Doctors failed to diagnose him for several days which resulted to him lying in the hospital for 5 days before they did surgery to remove his appendix. The day after the surgery he was eating well and was released from the hospital.
This seemed simple enough, but within a few days he started losing function in both legs and being in a wheelchair in excruciating pain with weight bearing. Several more hospital visits later and failure to diagnosis him properly the pain and loss of use of bodily functions moved up his body until he was bedridden. After taking him to Denver to the hospital he finally got a neurology work up. He has systemic peripheral neuropathy and no underlying cause has been discovered yet besides possible autoimmune. His pain is completely uncontrollable at this point even on a high dose of Gabbapentin. His diagnosis and possibility for recovery are unknown at this time.
