Danny Brave's Top Surgery Fundraiser

Dear Friends, Community Members, Internet People, Humanity,

It's fast approaching:  I am finally having top surgery on March 13th, 2019 (!!!)

Unlike many transgender individuals, I am blessed to have health insurance that completely covers this surgery:  however, despite landing a completely rad full-time position recently, because of the particular way that this organization operates in terms of the time it takes to accrue paid time off, I will only have accrued enough time to cover about 1/3 - 1/2 of the time it will take me to heal (depending on how long it takes).  Additionally, my partner Tommy will be taking a full week off to assist me in the first week of my recovery (he does not have any paid time off), and then, for week 2 of my recovery, I will need lots of help from dear friends, whom I would like to compensate for their time (since this is a f*ckn' TASK, y'all).

I do not have much savings (I am working my butt off to replenish them) and even if I did, I'll be honest and share that it would be a giant bummer for me to completely deplete them so that I simply get to be myself and have my body- something most people are simply born with, free of charge.  I vision a future where transgender individuals are given similar care to pregnancy leave, since we are over here giving birth to our authentic selves and experience a lot of pain in that process.  

However, until the future is here, I need the help of those of you who are financially stable/well, or who have a bit to spare (even $5 counts), and believe that transgender people deserve to have the bodies that they feel are a reflection of their true selves.  aka CALLING ALL ALLIES WHO ARE FINANCIALLY STABLE. 

BREAKDOWN OF EXPENSES:

2 weeks (otherwise) unpaid weeks off for me to recover:  $1252
One (otherwise) unpaid week off for Tommy:  $600
Transportation to and from Mass/NYC:  $193
Rent for 1 week to recover in NYC:  $200
Transportation for caregivers:  $55

TOTAL = $2,300
