Danny Wild was a much loved Canadian Dance Artist who graced stages around the world during his 30 year career.
Sadly Danny died unexpectedly in March 2020. The pandemic made a memorial event impossible.
The community of artists and friends who loved Danny Wild, have applied for a memorial plaque, for an existing bench in The Toronto Music Garden.
In this way we hope to honour Danny's commitment to dance and the arts in Canada, as well as creating a place for people to visit and think of Danny. After much deliberation it was decided that the plaque will read, in Danny's words:
Danny Wild - 1965-2020 - Dance Artist/Choreographer/ Teacher - 'Come, tell me a story. Then let's sit a while'.
This beautiful park was one of Danny's favourites, located close to dance organizations and the harbour. Danny spent much time on the water, performing with The Caravan Stage Company on their ship the Amara Zee. It is the perfect place for an artist's memorial, especially Danny's.
We are fundraising for the cost of a memorial plaque on an existing bench.
The cost is $ 1,753.00 but could be subject to change as per the City of Toronto
Funds are raised beyond this amount will be donated to The Actor's Fund of Canada.
There are other possibilities for donation which we will announce on this page when the time comes.
Thank you so much for your interest and support! This is a beautiful honouring of our dear friend.
'All who knew him were touched by his generous spirit on and off the stage. Whatever he did - dancing, cooking, sailing, writing, or caring for loved ones - Dan did with kindness, artistry, and grace.'
