Danny Welkers Recovery from Violent Intruder
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Mary Tolson and I am a friend of Danny's. I met Danny through one of his brothers Scott Welker. I have never met a nicer more genuine giving person who did not deserve this. Danny is a veteran and a senior citizen of Wichita Falls. After hearing what happened to him I couldn't help but try to do something to help him get through this devastating occurrence. Danny's circumstances have changed most recently after being assaulted by an intruder in his home. I want to tell you his story and I hope that you can see how he is in a bad situation and needs prayer and some help.
Danny has always been a very hard worker, able to fix almost anything, but after suffering a stroke in 2017 it became impossible for him to continue the life he had led before the stroke seriously affected his eyesight and he is now colorblind. He can no longer drive. He is now 66 and lives on Social Security. He and his wife were burdened by the medical bills from his hospitalizations and rheumatoid arthritis medication. Then his wife was hospitalized in June 2022 and was diagnosed with cancer. She passed away a month later on July 1st, 2022, leaving Dan to grieve her absence and pay all the medical bills with reduced income. And the worst is yet to come.
Then came a knock on the door that changed his life yet again. On Sunday July 17th he answered his door and an intruder pushed his way in and beat Danny punching him in the face and head, ransacked his home, destroying some of his sessions, and left him lying on his living room floor bleeding. His caring neighbor found him the following day when he investigated Dan's absence from his front porch, where he usually sat with his coffee. Dan was taken by ambulance to a local hospital and then was transported the same day to Fort Worth due to facial fractures, particularly around his eyes, for which he needed to see an ophthalmologist and be in a trauma hospital. The medical bills (hospital, rehab, ambulance ) are increasing again, so I am asking for support for this man who did not deserve to be beaten and left for dead.
Danny suffers from broken ribs and head injury which has caused significant confusion; they are thinking of another stroke because he cannot operate his left hand or left leg correctly. Any funding would be used to pay his medical and wife's bills and hopefully keep him from losing his home if he recovers enough to return there.
Thank you for your prayers and your time. Danny
