UPDATE: 5/31/2020: I'd like to update everyone, with Danny's permission, on some new developments.
Danny met with the oncologist in Houston last week. He wants Danny to now complete 6 cycles of Chemo for a total of 4 1/2 MONTHS!!! This will be completed at the Mays Center, also MD Anderson, in San Antonio. Osteosarcoma is the cancer they are fighting. They are concerned that if chemo is not done, there is a larger chance of it returning, as it has shown itself to be an aggressive cancer.
With the increased out of work time, I feel it is appropriate to update everyone and continue the donations for a little longer.
*If you have already donated---Thank You from the bottom of Danny's heart!!! He has been speechless and amazed at the outpouring. If you have not donated, and feel you would like to---with this updated unexpected news, I'm going to do one more donation request round for a time and then close it out.

We are raising money to help Danny Oakes with medical bills, medications, travel etc that he has incurred with his diagnosis of cancer. Danny has a somewhat rare cancer that started in his nasal cavity and then reappeared in his jaw recently. The incidents have required Danny to have two surgeries, the most recent only 1 week ago. He will likely be away from work for 1-2 months.
If you know Danny, you know he is the best friend anyone could have and is always ready and willing to help anyone out. He is selfless in every aspect of the word. He has been in the EMS and healthcare world in the Coastal Bend Region nearly his entire adult life.
While Danny does have insurance and short/long term disability coverage through HALO-Flight, additional costs of medications, deductibles, travel back and forth to MD Anderson in Houston etc and with disability covering 60% of usual salary--we would like to help fill that gap for him.
Thank You for considering to help Danny get through this financially and having one less thing to worry about during this time.
