Danny Knox & Ardgown Hospice.
Donation protected
My name is John Hampsey and I'm raising money for Danny Knox & the Ardgowan Hospice.
In 2023 Danny was suddenly diagnosed with stage 4 bladder cancer. This was devastating news for everyone, especially Danny and his young family. Danny courageously began treatment immediately, initially receiving Chemotherapy and more recently Immunotherapy. This has been physically and mentally challenging for Danny & his family, but this still hasn't stopped him thinking about everyone else above his own needs - particularly at Christmas when he raised over £2k for local charities (3rd year in a row).
To raise the money for Danny and the Ardgowan Hospice I'll be attempting to complete an Ironman 70.3 in Bolton on the 30th June 2024. This is a long distance triathlon where i'll be swimming 1.2 mile, cycling 56 mile and then running 13.1 mile. This is equivalent to swimming 77 lengths of the Waterfront swimming pool, cycling from the Battery Park to Silverburn and back, and then running from the Battery Park to Wemyss Bay and back (Half Marathon).
To complete this I've been training 6 days a week, sometimes twice each day, since November. (Sober may i add). My training will continue to increase as the 30th of June gets closer.
Any donations will be greatly appreciated for these great causes!
