Help Danny Conquer MDS Blood Cancer
Donation protected
Dear Friends, Family, and Kind-hearted Strangers…
This is not an experience we ever thought we would be sharing, but know it may hit close to home for too many. We were looking forward to an exciting 2023. We both were turning 50 in March and looking forward to celebrating 20 years of marriage in June. Our eldest was finishing up their first year away at college and our youngest moving up to high school. In April, everything came to a screeching halt and our family faced a battle none should ever have to endure. Danny was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS), a rare and aggressive blood cancer. This news has shaken our world, but we believe in the strength of community and the power of compassion to light our path forward.
Danny's journey over these past few months has been nothing short of a rollercoaster. Throughout it all, he has demonstrated an incredible amount of courage and resilience. Taking all things with grace and never complaining.
He has already faced invasive and extensive medical procedures and multiple hospital stays, each one a step towards defeating this merciless disease. However, the battle is far from over. Next week, he is scheduled for a bone marrow (stem cell) transplant, a pivotal moment that we are hopeful will bring his healthy future. Yet, in the face of mounting medical and dental bills, compounded by his inability to work, our family is navigating uncharted financial waters.
For the most part, we are very resourceful and can handle things on our own. This current situation has thrown us for a loop. Those who know us, know that up until now Danny has worked 70 plus hours a week, the past 20 years, as our main provider. Due to his treatment and compromised immune system he has been quarantined at home since April and after his transplant will likely continue to be, until February. We’ve managed fairly well, however we never could have anticipated how quickly medical bills can add up. Not to mention the addition of his unexpected oral surgery.
It is not easy for us to ask for help. We understand that times are tough for everyone, but we believe in the kindness that resides within human hearts. Your support, whether through a donation or the simple act of sharing Danny's story, can allow our family to focus on what truly matters: fighting for his full and complete recovery.
Thank you again, for all of the continued love and support. We are forever grateful for all of your well wishes, prayers, and positive energy. We could not have gotten this far without it.
With heartfelt gratitude, the Johnson family. ❤️
