Do you remember these two?
Danny and DeAnn have been married for 41 years. A 1977 graduate from Thurston High School Danny is married to my sister DeAnn whose maiden name is Smith. She also attended Thurston High school.
He is one of the best men I know, husband, brother, father, grandfather, brother-in-law and friend........A man of faith and one of the hardest working people I know.
A little over two months ago, a man who never wanted to call in sick contacted his employer and let them know he would not be in that day. Little did he know, he would not return to work and quite honestly may never be able to return to the job he loves.
Danny was diagnosed with late stage pancreatic cancer. Their world was turned upside down in the blink of an eye and forever changed. The plans of retirement, watching their grandkids grow up, growing old together in the house they love, and so many other things are diminishing by this ugly disease.
Blessed with medical insurance, there are still so many out-of-pocket expenses.
Going from a two income household to one is monumental. DeAnn is not able to work full-time and currently on intermittent FMLA . She may have to go full-time FMLA to care for the love of her life. She has no more leave pay available. They will go from no income to a small disability check Danny receives. DeAnn will have to wait approximately 30 days for any type of compensation, which will be less than she normally makes
I am reaching out to all of my friends and family and asking for your support.
There are many things your contributions could go towards to help them. One of the most important is a complete remodel of one of the bathrooms. It is imperative, they have a shower Danny is able to get in and out of easily without having to lift his leg over the bathroom tub. At this time he needs assistance for fear he will fall. A remodel of the front porch to include a ramp is also a necessity. There are many out-of-pocket expenses, medical bills not paid by insurance, prescriptions, supplies and so many other expenses to pay for.
Please help support Danny and DeAnn with these expenses as they learn how to navigate through this difficult time.
I am still in awe when I think about how their world was turned upside down after one trip to the emergency room by ambulance.
I am grateful for my visit with them approximately one month ago. I did not leave feeling I would never see him again. I would love to see him work again. I can’t tell you how badly he wants to be working and doing anything other than sitting in the chair and looking out the window. He’d rather do anything than feel as sick as he does from the chemo and pain from the cancer.
There are many of you who can relate to the battle of cancer. It is is an ugly, unforgiveable disease.
For those of you who can and cannot make a contribution, we ask for your prayers.
Each day as I drive to work and go about my daily life I think about them. I think about how they would love nothing more than to be able to go about their daily lives as they once knew it so recently.
There are no truer soul mates than these two, Danny and DeAnn.
Thank you in advance for your support and prayers.
God bless you all…
For those of you who would prefer to donate in another fashion, please contact me through Facebook messenger or text.
Please feel free to share this.
If anyone has a way to share this on a Thurston High School Facebook page(s), it would be greatly appreciated. Again, Danny is a 1977 graduate.
