Introduction to Danny
Everyone who knows Danny Hoyland knows he’s the life of the party, never at a loss for words, master of joking around and crossing lines...but this isn’t a joke, and he is in crucial need of our help. Let’s come together to support him as he fights cancer so he can focus on healing, regaining his strength, meeting his basic needs, and getting back to his kids—where he belongs.
Danny’s Diagnosis
On February 19th, 2025, Danny was diagnosed with Stage 3 colorectal cancer. Most recently, it progressed to Stage 4 as it has spread to his lungs. He is currently awaiting a biopsy to determine if cancer has also spread to his liver.
Additionally, his treatment has caused several complications, including infections and immunotherapy-induced colitis.
Danny’s Treatment Plan
Danny began chemotherapy on April 9th and completed radiation at the end of August. He is still undergoing chemotherapy and will for the foreseeable future.
Once his infusions conclude and his care team is sure the cancer is gone, he’ll receive surgery to remove the cancerous parts of his colon and rectum, at which point he’ll have to wear a colostomy bag.
Danny’s treatment plan has been further complicated by new metastases that will require further chemotherapy and other treatments, making his surgery and recovery timing unknown at this point.
How Your Support Will Help Danny
Due to his illness, Danny is unable to work. He is fully dependent on disability payments for income, but it is not sufficient to meet his basic needs, most importantly, his own housing.
He faces mounting debts from medical bills, legal fees from his three-year ongoing separation, and credit card balances. His out-of-pocket maximum also resets in the new year, increasing his debt.
A priority for Danny is to regain his independence during treatment and once it concludes. He dreams of being able to afford a family-friendly two- or three-bedroom apartment, which he currently cannot, and returning to work. However, he needs help from his community to achieve this goal.
Call to Action
Danny is the person who shows up, checks in, and somehow finds a way to make you laugh, even on the hard days. Now, it's our turn to show up for him.
We’re asking his community to come together and donate to help him achieve independence and secure his own housing, so he can get back on his feet, continue leading by example, and inspire others—including his children.
