Danny Andrada Cancer Treatment Fund

We are reaching out to you on behalf of our friend, Danny Andrada.
Over the last 6 months, Danny has been dealing with serious health issues, and he is now able to share his journey and ask for your help. Earlier last year, Danny noticed a drop in his energy levels. Despite this, he continued working and staying active, determined to increase his stamina. However, over the summer he noticed some symptoms that brought him into the ER. After a series of doctor’s visits and diagnostic studies, they discovered a mass in his liver. After more testing, Danny found out that he has a rare form of Grade 3 Cholangiocarcinoma (Bile Duct Cancer in the Liver).
We don’t know why this happened. This is something unexpected and unexplainable. But we do know this — Danny is brave, and he is going to fight this disease. He has tolerated treatment well, and after his 4th cycle of chemotherapy, the tumor responded and showed minor shrinkage. Danny is now going through his 8th cycle of chemotherapy treatment. However, there has been no further sign of shrinkage, and he is functioning on less than 15% of his liver. Time is urgent, and we need your help.
Danny’s doctors have been unable to further specify the cancer, which prohibits him from qualifying for clinical trials. He has exhausted specialists on the West Coast, and it is critical that he ramps up testing, sees more specialists in the U.S., and attains a proper diagnosis and treatment.
We refuse to let this be the end of Danny’s journey and ask that you help us raise funds to support Danny’s fight. The road ahead isn’t easy, but we aren’t out of options. For those of you who know Danny, you know he would be the first one at your side to help. As his friends, we are devastated. But this is Danny, who brings so much more than friendship to our lives. As a community, we have an incredible opportunity to support our dear friend in his biggest time of need.
We have exceeded our initial goal, and our current fundraising efforts will cover and supplement the following cancer-related expenses:
- Second Opinions and Molecular testing from a couple of cancer research hospitals outside of Danny’s insurance coverage (estimated costs: around $5,000 per hospital)
- Organic Meal Delivery (Danny’s diet is essential for him maintaining weight during treatment)
- Alternative Therapies (Acupuncture, massage, oxygen therapy, clinical psychology, etc.)
- Vitamins and Supplements
- Miscellaneous treatment costs (co-pays, transportation, etc.)
We ask that you help us in our push for $75,000. This has been our stretch goal since the GoFundMe launched and the additional money will provide Danny the opportunity to receive consultations from ALL the following hospitals:
- National Cancer Institute in Washington DC
- Mayo Clinic
- Memorial Sloan-Kettering
- Dana Farber Cancer Institute
- University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center
These additional consultations are key to Danny getting an accurate diagnosis. Every dollar towards our stretch goal gets us closer to more consultations so Danny can be sure to have the most effective course of treatment possible.
If anyone has any recommendations or connections to the above hospitals, please reach out to us.
We hope that you will join us in Danny’s fight and share his story.
