Danna’s Fight Against Advanced Stage Breast Cancer
Danna is a kind hearted and one of a kind Christian, wife, mother, and friend to many. She was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer. We are asking for donations, prayer, and any kind of assistance you feel lead to bless her with. She and her sweet family have been blessed by many in the community and our goal is to continue to support them as they navigate this complicated and devastating disease. Throughout her journey Danna has stayed full of love, laughter, incredible faith, and last but not least, hope. “My name is Danna Gorman-Strasel. I was born in Ohio, Oct 13, 1977. My father died when I was 4. Mom never remarried. I had a pretty good life with good family and friends. Had lots of fun jobs but sadly, I had never given my life over to Christ, so I got sucked into the world and sinful relationships resulted. I went to Hawaii to drown my sorrows in the ocean but God reached down and picked me up from the pit I was in. I started reading Bible cover to cover there and fell in love with Jesus. I decided I would live for Him instead of men. I thought I would be a missionary or like Mother Theresa but when I returned to Ohio, I met Dan and knew soon after meeting him that God made Dan for me. We fell in love, sold my house, got married, had Alephia and moved to Florida. I still had dreams of going to Africa (Florida was supposed to be our stepping stone), but our goal of getting down to 2 suitcases so we could move there was getting harder each day as we accumulated stuff from garage sales/thrift stores, our parents and Alephia's godparents and nice people of Lake County always blessing us with stuff and gifts for Alephia. But I still have the dream of at least going over there on a mission trip someday. My church went to Uganda Dec 2019 and my friend has a charity she runs in Uganda so to me that is a sign God will get me to Uganda soon!We have been attending the Cross Mt Dora since we moved to Florida in 2012. I have served actively there and also 4 years at MOPS and countless bible studies at The Cross, as well as Real Life (even did one when it was called Round Lake Christian Church), and Grace City (even did one when it was called Northland). I have worked several jobs (Publix, Goblin Market, Mellow Mushroom, etc) but my favorite jobs were when I was working for friends (babysitting, petsitting, houscleaning). I stopped when Dan and I bought our first house together last year in Umatilla. I wanted to garden, do home repairs, focus more on staying at home, bible reading and homeschooling. It was a struggle to do the updating needed on our 1959 home but by the grace of God, we got the kitchen remodeled and Dan taught himself how to do more plumbing than he ever wanted to do in his life to fix the many issues our house had. We were able to keep the house and food on the table and vehicles, thanks to the people who donated to my GoFundMe (that I had started a while back) but those funds are now depleted and that one has expired so this is a new one. My update: I was diagnosed with breast cancer in January 2020. It spread to lymph nodes, left femur, spine, sternum, and right lung. I also broke my neck doing a headstand! I have tried tons of natural ways to heal. They have not shrunk my tumor in my breast but I have been able to be me and continue homeschooling my daughter and have become the healthiest version of me possible. Even lost 45lbs! There are also more ways left to try and I have heard that this way takes time. So I am trying to stay hopeful and know that God is in control so I need not fear. He wants me healed. Lots of wonderful friends are praying for me and helping me. It means so much knowing that I am not going through this alone. I have seen several naturopaths and still hope to see more. Sadly, insurance will not help with their office visits or the treatments/supplements they suggest. The two doctors I hope to see next are Dr Keller and Dr Thomas. Just the total of their first office visits will be over a grand. So anything you can donate would be much appreciated. Dan has been out of work since his employer Bob Evans Mt Dora closed permanently due to Corona. He does want to go back to work somewhere eventually but for now he is enjoying being at home. He even got to finish his third novel "Without Rest". It is amazing. Check it out at www.mirroranium.com. Alephia is doing great... healthy, happy, beautiful, smart, friendly, creative. She loves her Classical Conversations co-op on Mondays where she gets to learn and play with other homeschoolers. She loves going to friend's homes and having them come to hers. She loves reading, arts/crafts, climbing our magnolia tree, and Jesus. I cannot complain. I have lived a great life. He saved me so many times in my past from bad decisions I made (before and after coming to Christ), that if it is His will for me to go now, I am good and ready to meet Jesus but I am also confident that He can do a miracle and heal me so that is what I am praying for.”
