Hi my name is Dani and I am trying to raise some funds to go towards my gender affirmation surgery. Here in Australia these types of operations are not currently funded appropriately under Medicare which leaves the individual to fund almost the entire sum themselves (surgery $30000+, hospital fees $40000-$50000 before Medicare rebates). As you can appreciate $80k is a lot of money and most people don't usually have that kind of cash just laying around and I am no different. I am not asking for the full amount as I believe that as this is something for me that I should make every effort to pay for as much of this myself however even I realise that if I don't ask for help I may never be able to afford these procedures. Adding to the financial stress will be the recovery times (minimum of 3 months off work) will mean that I am going to be without a paycheck for an unknown length of time and that is something that I am going to need help with. Every little bit helps so if you can spare anything at all I would be incredibly thankful.
