Dani was diagnosed with Brain Cancer Glioblastoma Grade 3 in 2014 and Radiation Necrosis in 2020.
Dani's Story:
Dani has suffered from migraines since she was in 7th grade, and her neurologist found three tumors on one of her MRIs. After getting several different opinions from different neurologists, she was told her tumors could not be operated on because they were invading her brain's control center.
She began radiation and oral chemotherapy in 2015, which significantly decreased the size of her tumors but did not get rid of them.
She had frequent MRIs following this treatment. In 2019 an MRI showed one of her tumors growing.
Her oncologist waited until July 2020 to send her to Chicago to do an Awake Craniotomy. They found her to have Radiation Necrosis.
The following January 2021, she began radiation, chemotherapy and Avastin until March 2021. This treatment did not work as well as the previous one in 2015.
In July 2021, she began experiencing symptoms related to her Radiation Necrosis which mimics stroke-like symptoms. She had two hospital stays in September/November 2021 for these symptoms.
In February 2022, she began to get worse. She appeared in front of the Tumor Board to determine if she would be able to have another biopsy in April. She will be going for this biopsy Friday, April 22nd. After this, another meeting will be made with the Tumor Board to determine if surgery or treatment is appropriate.
Dani graduated from Bethel College in May 2021 and passed her NCLEX exam shortly after. She started at St. Vincent Hospital on Medical Progressive Care Unit as a Registered Nurse in June 2021 and has recently stepped down from her career as an RN due to her symptoms worsening. This has been hard on her and her husband.
No donation is too small. The money will be used for mortgage payments, gas, meals, medications, medical bills, etc. These donations will help reduce Danielle and her husband's stress during this difficult time.
