Support Dani in his fight against cancer nr. 5

Donation protected

Dear all,

today I am asking you for your support on behalf of so many friends and family of my beloved friend Daniel Machado. Dani is currently fighting his cancer number 5. Yes, number 5. Many of us would be happy if we would survive this horrible disease once. Dani is the toughest fighter I know - and this helped hin to survive 1-4.

Dani is such an inspiring guy, from the first moment I met him over 15 years ago in Australia while I was visiting a friend (Dani was his fellow student) I felt his amazing energy and the love he spreads even towards people, he just met 5 minutes ago. He has a huge heart - taking care for his lovely daughter, his mom who he "rescued" from struggling home country Venezuela, his friends, the community, the music...

There is no option - we have to support Dani, who is not struggling in the fight against cancer but with his financial situation, as he spends all the money he earns on family and doctors.

Please find below more information with how we all can support him . In total it is 10.550 Australian Dollars - approx 6.800 Euro including currency conversion losses and platform payment fees. This is based on estimations, for the first surgery pls see the out of pocket expenses below as Dani has here a clear figure.

Technical information: Each donation has a gofundme payment fee of 2,9% + 30 Eurocent, just for your transparency. If you cannot or do not want to donate via this platform, please contact be or the friend you received this from, so that we can arrange bank transfer where needed.

I asked Dani to write me a short mail to have his own word and also for me to understand the expenses for this cancer. And it gives all of you a feeling how amazing this gent is, and how his situation is (se below).

Please - support us to fulfill the mission and to support Dani to get old and survive this cancer!

“Understandably this raises the likelihood that Daniel should undergo a total colectomy and ileorectal anastomosis. … have had a long talk to him today about the nature of the surgery and the risks and complications… I want him to see Nathan Lawrentschuk given that there is something of an abnormality in the bladder wall on the CT scan” – Professor Ian T Jones, Royal Melbourne Hospital

Dear brother,

None of this scares me. I fell off my bike and hurt my knee a couple of days ago, and the pain thereafter was so sharp that I couldn’t walk, and fainted. Yesterday I was back on my bike, my telling me, ‘see! I can heal!’. A gas leak in my house has left my house without heating and cooking for almost two weeks now. Today I boil my coffee using an electric frying pan. But none of this bothers me.

Unfortunately, what takes my stress to stratospheric levels is that my very tight budget swings between +42$ and -42$, without the perfection of the number. Hosting my mother in Australia (the picture further complicated by COVID), my duties as a father of my wonderful child, mortgage (the evil to us all), and the ad-hoc medical expenses due to routine check-ups, means as money comes in, it goes out.

I am ready to fight once more, for you all my brothers, for them, for my family. This has long ceased to be about me. But I need the resources to at least cover the upcoming extra costs of the treatment, as there is always a gap between what Medicare covers, and the actual fees.

Doing rough maths based on my previous surgeries:

- Hospital Insurance Excess $ 750

- Surgeon gap Fee $ 3,200 (see below, there we have this figure confirmed)

- Urologist surgery gap fee $ 3,200

- Anaesthetist Gap Fees $ 950

- Pathologies $ 800

- CT Scan Gap $ 750

- Pre-op consultations $ 150 x 3

- Post-op consultations $ 150 x 3

As I said in my text message, I am utterly unable to overcome my shame and ask for help, so, I ask you brother, to do it on my behalf, as you know me deeply, and rightly you once called me a coconut, hard outside but soft inside.

Thank you, much. Bug hug.

Daniel
