Supporting Daniel Weston SOGB

Daniel Weston is a young man from the south west region of the UK. He was diagnosed with Autism at an early age. He was encouraged to swim from an early age as a form as exercise and for enjoyment. When Daniel was about 6/7 he was taught to ride a bike going from stabilisers to no stabilisers with great ease. When getting to the age of about 16 he started competing in road races with his Dad piloting on a tandem. Daniel soon progressed to being able to cycle on the road with his Dad on single bikes, he has taken part in various competitions in the local area such as the Exmoor Beast and various Time Trials. Daniel does need support when racing on the road due his disability. He then progressed to competing in national Special Olympics events on the tandem and on the solo bike. Daniel has competed in the following events: Special Olympics European Summer Games - Belgium in September 2014. Special Olympics World Summer Games - Los Angeles in July 2015. Special Olympics National Games - Sheffield in August 2016. Daniel is currently training for the Special Olympics World Games to be held in Abu Dhabi March 2019. Unlike the mainstream Olympics Daniel will have to raise funds to secure his place for the games. He will be doing a variety of sponsored events and also a bake sale/ tea party to help raise money.
