Daniels Hospital Activity Boxes!!!

Hi All! It's Sarah and Alain here!

As you will probably all know, our 5-year-old son Daniel was diagnosed with ALL Leukaemia (Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia) in September 2020. We are now over halfway through his treatment, and he is doing amazingly well!!

His journey has been incredibly challenging; we have watched our little man endure so much over the last few years. The support we have had from our friends and family has been invaluable, from babysitting, meals and most importantly, lending an ear when we have our 'moments'.

The NHS has been phenomenal with its care and support towards Daniel (especially in the light of the pandemic!). So Alain and I have been searching for a way to provide something back!

We are currently in the middle of yet another stint at East Surrey Hospital with Daniel, as he has a fungal chest infection, and we finally have found something we can help with!

The wonderful Play Specialist Janine at East Surrey has been telling us about how she would like to put together some individual ACTIVITY BOXES for the core children that 'visit' Outwood Ward most regularly. These would be person-centred and include toys, puzzles, games, paints, dinosaurs...you name it, whatever would bring even the slightest joy and make the stay at the hospital slightly easier!

Anyone who knows us will know this project is right up our street as although the medical side of treatment is so important, so is play!!!

We are aiming for £500 (now updated to - I can't believe I'm writing this - £2500 - wow you people are so amazing!!!). Anything extra will be used to fund much-needed toys and resources for the play room and to support Outward Ward!!
