My name is Micheya and one of my dear friends, Danielle Aldridge, is in need of funds for medical and rehabilitation needs. She has no insurance and was injured while volunteering with Kerrville search and rescue efforts, following the devastating 4th of July weekend floods in Texas.
I have known Danielle for five years and was immediately drawn to her enthusiasm for life and energy. She loves her family, her garden and her farm animals and fishing. She never shies away from adventure and new experiences and has a heart of gold. This is exactly what got her into this unfortunate predicament.
The July 4th weekend floods of Texas Hill Country took the breath away from our nation as we all watched its devastation, followed by the consistently increasing body count, as well as souls left to be located. It was a feeling of absolute hopelessness and heartbreak, compelling many who could, to spring into action. What happened could not be undone, however- assisting with finding the remains and personal effects of those lost, could at least assist with those families as they longed for closure.
Many agencies and organizations deployed to the area, allowing people willing and able to assist in a methodical and organized effort. Danielle and her husband were two of these people who answered that call. She split her weeks assisting by spending four days in Kerrville and the remaining 3 at her home to address the responsibilities there. There were lots of somber drives back and forth as her heart was torn between tending to her home and the decimated river communities. It was on her 3rd week that the accident occurred, leaving her responsible for ambulatory cost, hospital diagnostic bills and necessary physical therapy.
You see, she was riding as a passenger in a loaned side by side off road vehicle when the driver, unfamiliar with the vehicle, took a turn too fast and ended up rolling. All Danielle could do at this point was hold on and pray for the rolls to stop. When it finally did, the driver and the other passenger were both airlifted for local treatment, while Danielle was taken by ambulatory transport. Thankfully, no one sustained life threatening or irreparable injuries, however the financial burden of treatment is now needing to be navigated.
Danielle suffered a grade 3 Acromioclavicular Joint Separation and a recent diagnosis of a Rhomboid Strain. Her physical therapy is critical as this degree of the separation is flirting with the need for surgical intervention. She is hopeful that rest and consistent rehabilitation is all that she will need.
She is waiting to negotiate her bills lower, but her initial bills add up to over 30k.
Hospital Bill: $26,308
Physical Therapy estimate: $3600
Orthopedic Appointment: $281
Ambulatory Cost: Unknown/TBD
Please share and contribute as you are compelled and able. I know it sounds cliche that "every little bit counts" however it is true. As those amounts come in, it will encourage Danielle as well as relieve some monetary strain and allow her some mental and emotional peace to recover. Thank you for your time, consideration, prayers, positive vibes and generosity.
