My name is Danielle Moore. I'm a 20-year-old student from Southwest Virginia.
On Wednesday, March 19th, around 10:30 p.m., I was involved in a severe car accident. I lost control of my vehicle and ended up going off the road, flipping 10-15 times down an embankment. When emergency responders arrived, I was found unconscious in the driver’s seat of my upside-down car, with the engine no longer in the vehicle. Thanks to my Apple Watch, which automatically called 911, help arrived quickly. If I hadn’t been wearing my watch or my seatbelt, I’m not sure I’d be here today.
I was rushed to the nearest hospital and admitted to the ICU around midnight. The next morning, I underwent a two-hour surgery to repair two holes in my colon. The doctors were able to close the smaller hole, but had to remove a section of my colon to repair the larger, more severe one. I spent three days in the ICU before being transferred to a regular hospital room. Thankfully, my injuries are relatively minor considering the severity of the crash.
I have bruising and lacerations, a separated left clavicle, a sprained right ankle, and some minor damage to my right eye. I'm slowly regaining my consciousness, strength, and mobility. After a week of recovery, I was discharged on Wednesday, March 26th.
Before the accident, I worked full-time as a training supervisor at a restoration company and was taking college courses in project management. At this time, I’m uncertain when I’ll be able to return to work, and I’m facing substantial medical bills.
The funds raised here will go directly toward covering these medical expenses. I’m extremely grateful to be home and able to share my story. While my recovery will take time, I’m determined to heal and move forward. Any support is deeply appreciated.
