Danielle's Journey to Recovery

Danielle Leclaire is a dearly loved and respected medical assistant at Healthcare Associates of Texas in Southlake. On Tuesday November 8th she and her husband, Justin Melendez, along with their six year old son, Porter, welcomed Phoenix Dean Leclaire-Melendez, a beautiful, healthy baby boy into the world. However, tragically, on Friday November 11th just three days postpartum, Danielle suffered a basal ganglia hemorrhage; also known as a very severe stroke. Strokes of this nature are known to leave survivors with a lengthy recovery that can last years or even a life time. After being rushed by EMS to Medical City Alliance where the stroke was diagnosed, she was transferred to the Neuro Intensive Care Unit at Texas Health Fort Worth. Sadly though, the stroke has left Danielle with mobility impairments that will require intensive inpatient physical and occupational therapy, followed by extensive outpatient therapies to help her to gain back those lost motor skills. Her husband, Justin, and mother, Tammi, have never left her bedside. They have been rotating shifts so she is never left alone, as she continues to overcome the biggest fight of her life. Justin’s sister and her wife have been so gracious moving into Danielle and Justin’s home to care for baby Phoenix and Porter during these terrible circumstances. This time of year is challenging for any family, but especially so, for the Leclaire-Melendez family. Medical expenses, caring for a new born, time away from work and not to mention the holidays are all stresses that can completely overwhelm a family in these circumstances.
